PERFORMANCE ARCHITECT Position JO#14058

Our client is one of largest retailers in the world. Yet their IT department is nimble and dynamic and works with cutting edge technologies. They are currently in need of an experienced Performance Architect.

This position is contract to hire and is at Pleasanton, CA location.

Responsibilities:

 

• Coordinate with Enterprise Architects, Project Managers, and Tech leads in designing and implementing holistic performance test strategies for complete coverage of application landscape.

• Drive project success through measurable methods such as driving timelines, bug trends, appropriate resourcing and other opportunities

• Work with PM’s and other stakeholders to build an appropriate load model and then translate the requirements for test execution

• Review architecture and design for performance and understand application landscape and architecture

• Observe and interact with daily transition of work between multiple geographic locations

• Summarize large amount of metrics into meaningful graphs and reports and create release reports

• Experience with mobile, cloud/SaaS, big data, or analytics is a huge plus

• Familiar with the development challenges inherent with highly scalable and available web services

• Experience with virtualization, hosted solutions, SaaS, and cloud-based solutions a plus

• Experience under iterative/agile methodologies a plus

• Experience with New Relic, AppInsight.

• Possess solid JAVA and SQL debugging and performance tuning experience that includes garbage collection, heap management, JVM Configuration, V$ table, explain plan, query optimization and other performance-associated areas

• The Performance Analyst/Architect and Operations Lead will play a strategic role in improving the team’s methodologies, analysis tools utilized, and participate in major initiatives to improve performance by examining all software and hardware utilized in multiple platforms.

 

Requirements:

• Instrument synthetic transaction monitoring and availability monitoring and Application monitoring for the JOE and .Net applications

• Set up monitoring dashboards for in TrueSight/Splunk for the applications which are migrating to Hybrid cloud.

• Expert ability to identify performance issues within the J2EE architecture Load balancers, Weblogic, Database(Oracle), Operating System, Network, Software (JAVA) and Hardware

• Hands-on experience building enterprise level performance test suites

• Proven ability to partner with Architects, Developers, Systems Engineers, Database Administrators and other business representatives to collaboratively tune systems

• Experience with mobile, cloud/SaaS, big data, or analytics is a huge plus

• Strong understanding of the Software design/architecture process Experience testing web services (REST or SOAP)

• Experience testing web services (REST or SOAP)

• Experience with distributed systems

• Experience using “Big Data” technologies in the Hadoop, ecosystem

• Experience with Spark, Microsoft Azure, AWS, Play framework.

• Deep knowledge of Java and its internals (e.g. JVM performance tuning)

• Familiar with SQL query plan analysis/tuning, contention/locking analysis and tuning

• Experience with agile and dev-ops development methodology

• Possess a thorough understanding and hands-on experience of performance testing tools such as HP Loadrunner and other tools.

• Hands-on experience application monitoring using BMC Trusight, Sitescope, AppDynamcis, CA Wily Introscope, Fluke, OEM, Splunk, BMC Patrol, Netcool, and other OS-native tools

• Excellent skills in summarizing large amount of metrics into meaningful graphs and reports

• Strong knowledge of Web Services and related technologies (SOAP, JAXB, WSDL, XML)

• Experience with Oracle SQL, RDMS and RAC

• Solid programming skills in JAVA, SQL and Perl

 

Eligibility Qualifications:

 

• Minimum 10 years employment of Monitoring, Dashboard analytics, performance engineering experience - benchmark testing, performance analysis, tuning and developing software benchmarks, capacity planning and other performance engineering-related work

• Minimum 8 years creating Dashboards, performance test automation

• Minimum Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or related field from an accredited institute
